2006 Godfather Sparkling MCZD Presentation pack Magnum(1.5L)

The fruit for our first sparkling Blanc de Blancs was harvested on 12 January 2006 following a cool growing season - conditions ideal for producing a sparkling wine. The wine is very pale straw in colour with hints of green, displaying fine, persistent bead which caresses and surprises the palate. The subtle biscuity bouquet is underlined by notes of yeast and bread dough and carries through to the palate which displays green apple, green pear and citrus, finishing tantalisingly fresh and dry. Enjoy with oysters, California rolls, gravlax.

Absent Friends

We welcome the return of our light, easy-drinking, fruit-driven white blend with our sixth vintage of Absent Friends. The juice was fermented in stainless steel, producing a wine that is clear and bright with green tinges and displays lifted gooseberry and citrus on the nose. With distinctive tropical fruit salad featuring hints of lychee, passionfruit and pawpaw on the palate, it finishes crisp and clean with lively acid – a refreshing summer style and a great accompaniment to seafood and spicy meals.

2008 Top Block Chardonnay

Handpicked on Australia Day before the disastrous 2008 Hunter Valley harvest rains, this elegant wine is brilliant in clarity with a light straw colour tinged olive green. The nose displays restrained grapefruit, white peach and honeysuckle supported by a blend of Grand Cru, Icone and tight grain French oaks. The palate is long with complex citrus and stonefruit characters followed by a crisp acid finish. This wine will reward careful cellaring to develop lovely full fruit and nutty oak characters in the next 3-4 years and longer.

2009 Godfather Chardonnay

Handpicked on 21st January, this wine is brilliant in clarity with a light straw colour. The nose displays white peach with underlying oatmeal richness supported by a blend of tight grained, Grand Cru French oaks. The palate is long with rich and complex yellow peach and melon characters enhanced by a crisp finish and lingering, nutty aftertaste. This wine will reward careful cellaring to develop even more richness and complexity in the next 5-8 years. An opulent, yet elegant style to enjoy with full flavoured seafood.

Made from Shiraz/Cabernet Sauvignon/Cabernet Franc and brilliant ruby in colour, the wine displays fresh strawberry and raspberry characters on the nose. The palate is laced with attractive strawberry/raspberry/forest fruits with underlying hints of confectionery. This wine has good length and pleasant mouthfeel, finishing with subtle dryness. Enjoy with spicy foods. Serve chilled.

2009 Jaan Shiraz

After the disastrous 2008 vintage where we harvested no red grapes, the 2009 year provided perfect fruit for 225 dozen. Vibrant ruby/purple in colour, this wine displays alluring spices and cherries on the nose. These aromas extend to a well balanced full palate laced with sweet cherries and blackberries finishing with firm drying tannins and a delightfully lingering vanillin aftertaste. An elegant style that will reward many years of careful cellaring. Please decant.

2005 Jaan Shiraz

Protracted drought, old vines – less wine… only 300 dozen produced. Nevertheless, a wine that is full of excitement and potential. Vibrant deep purple in colour, this wine displays heady raspberry and black fruits on the nose. These fruit flavours extend to a full, generous palate, finishing with firm tannins and a delightfully lingering coffee/mocha aftertaste. Please decant. 2009 Godfather Cabernets

After a succession of challenging vintages, we are delighted to welcome not only the return of a cabernet to our selection but also an outstanding example of the style. Intense crimson with purple hues, this wine displays rich, succulent blackcurrant with an underlying hint of mint on the nose. Blackcurrant extends through to the palate and is enhanced by American oak giving the wine depth, power and extraordinary length, finishing firm and dry. This wine will reward careful, extended cellaring.

2007 Tall Tales & True Fortified (500ml)

Our first vintage of a fortified (Port style) wine is made of estate grown Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. It is brilliant purple in colour and has a heady blackberry/mulberry crumble nose. Aged spirit combines with ripe dark berry fruit flavours on the palate to create a smooth, seductively complex experience thus allowing an early appreciation of this wine. The finish has a satisfying, mellow warmth.

2008 Good Company (500ml)

This is the fourth vintage of our unique cross between an ice wine and a French Sauternes style. It is made of a 50% Semillon/ 50% Sauvignon Blanc base, was fermented hot in new French oak hogsheads and then matured for 9 months in oak. Citrus aromas on the nose extend to the palate to become luscious lemon butter with hints of sweet pears. The experience finishes with a long refreshing firm acid lemon/pineapple lift. Enjoy with blue cheese, baked cheesecake or fresh forest fruits with vanilla whipped cream.
